DECAL STEP BY STEP
So you have your decal and are ready to go! It’s exciting and we know what it feels like to want to jump right in. But we promise, a little bit of effort preparing for the application process will be well worth it in the end.
Take the time to gather the tools you need and prepare your space. Here’s what you’ll need:
tepid water, a plastic or rubber smoothing tool, scissors, alcohol swabs and a sponge and finally
your decal and ceramic piece.
Cut out your desired image. Remember to leave ¼ to an 1/8 inch border around your image.
Drop your decal into the tepid water for about 30 seconds.
While your decal is soaking, wipe down the ceramic piece with an alcohol swab in order to remove dust and debris, which may cause blow outs and spots in your final image.
When the decal is ready is should begin to slide off of the waterslide paper. It should slide easily, do not force as tearing my occur.
Slide the decal on to desired area. Smooth the decal with a sponge to get it to stick in place. Be careful not to smooth too hard for tearing can occur in this stage if excessive force is applied.
Once the decal is secured, used your rib to gently smooth the decal, removing air bubbles and excess water trapped between the decal and ceramic object.
